Drie uur lang de leukste NFF-shorts, speciaal voor filmliefhebbers die niets willen missen en houden van variatie. Animatie, fictie, documentaire en alles daartussen. Van bekende makers tot nieuw talent en potentiële Gouden Kalf-winnaars – hier wil je bij zijn. Want met korte films weet je nooit of je ze nog een keer op het grote doek kan zien.
Uiteraard gunnen we je een korte pauze tijdens deze lange zit. Even de benen strekken, naar het toilet of een bezoekje aan de shop voor een festivalbiertje, of een broodnodige kop koffie en snacks zodat je er weer fris tegenaan kunt.
Earlier this year, Matthijs worked at the quadrophonic mix for Daan Kouijzer’s and Yentl Bakker’s video installation Le Palace. The film reaches back to the iconic Parisian nightclub of the 1980s, known as a stronghold of creativity. Unconventional, free, and drenched in self-expression, in today’s world this vision of Le Palace feels increasingly utopian. Fighting for the right to exist, to express, to connect, to dance, Kouijzer’s and Bakker’s version of Le Palace is not a reconstruction but a reinterpretation — contemporary, abstract, minimalist, and stripped-down.
Matthijs’s sound design, mix and music from his Nachtvocht collective contributes to placing the film in a daydream-like space between the real and the imagined. For NFF (Dutch Film Festival), the installation was reworked to a short film in a new edit and MOST adapted the soundtrack to a surround cinema mix.
