BREAKING NEWS for MOST & Diederik
This April, MOST co-founder Diederik will leave the company to start a new blended career, combining work as a composer and sound designer with other pursuits.
Diederik and Ivo look back with pride and gratitude on their 15-year collaboration and are thankful for the many opportunities that came their way, the recognition their work received, and the successes they were able to celebrate.
MOST will continue to be the ‘creative one-stop shop for all things audio’, operating from our familiar studio in Amsterdam. Ivo and recently joined partner Matthijs remain at the helm, steering MOST into the future and looking forward to expanding the company.

Once Upon A Simpel Time
Alfred have done it again: their latest finger-puppet film-spoof for telecom provider Simpel now challenges fairytale conventions. Ivo therefore took the recognizable Simpel-theme and spun it into a tune fit for brave heroes rescuing damsels in distress. Or rather, joining Alfred’s twist, fit for a witty princess and her clumsy knight.
See the latest instalment on our website — and while you’re there, do check out the compilation we made from earlier iterations of the tune. Quite amusing how a simple (pun intended) melody can manifest itself in genres ranging from gameshow to heroic drama and maffia-film to fairytale.

Amsterdam 750 — The Birth of the City
Amsterdam is turning 750 this year, hooray! But how did Amsterdam become the city we know today? The birth of the City – Looking for Medieval Amsterdam explores the city’s fascinating early history. This exhibition in Stadsarchief Amsterdam lets you discover how the small settlement on the Amstel and IJ rivers grew into a famous place of pilgrimage and an influential port city in just a few centuries. MOST was happy to collaborate with agency Synergique, providing sound design for animations and a Dutch/English audio tour.

A WWII Legacy: Het Onderwater Cabaret
Curt Bloch was a German Jew who fled to The Netherlands during WWII and went into hiding to escape persecution and deportation. From his various hiding places, he created ‘Het Onderwater Cabaret’ – a clandestine publication with rhymes in Dutch and German, in which Bloch commented on the course of the war and mocked the fascists.
Working with Bloch’s family, design agency Q from Wiesbaden has developed the website curt-bloch.com – offering full access to Curt Bloch’s body of work. The site serves as a remembrance of World War II and its victims. Currently, audio recordings featuring voices of today expand the site to enhance Bloch’s historic legacy. MOST supports the recording of the Dutch-language content of this project.

New Note on audio restoration: Make inaudible, audible again
In our latest Note, Matthijs showcases how he rescues a very old recording and brings a voice back from the brink of the inaudible. Of course we aim to work with the highest quality source material – and when we record it ourselves you can rest assured it is – but sometimes you have to make the best of what’s available. In this case we salvaged an archive recording for use in an exhibition, keeping the distinctive quality and vibe of an historic recording yet making it much clearer. Check the step-by-step procedure and hear the results here.

Rift Riff: Towers of Sound
Attention all gamers: there’s a new, unique, pixel art, open world, tower defense game about to be released! Rift Riff is a strategic game in which you jump rifts, build towers, fight off free roaming monsters, and travel many vibrant worlds. Matthijs has worked on building the music- and soundworld for Rift Riff. He produced hundreds of assets and implemented them directly in game engine Godot. Together with Adriaan de Jongh, Sim Kaart, Franz LaZerte and Professional Panda we’ve been building towards the Rift Riff release on Steam this April. Can’t wait? Check out the trailer and play the demo!

Meanwhile at MOST ● Audio Post
Sometimes music & sound design is not needed or already in place, but a great VO and mix can make a huge difference. MOST Audio Post is where we aim to make that difference on a daily basis. A highlight of Q1 was casting, recording and mixing the Dutch voice for the new campaign for Alpine. Other recent work involved the audio adaptation of international campaigns for clients like JBL, Global, Zekur, Saudi Tourism and L’Or and productions for Heineken, Koopmans, Zuiderzeemuseum, Boursin, Allard Pierson museum, Nikkie Plessen and RegioBank. With attention for detail and love for great sound in all its forms we make sure that for each project, the soundtrack we deliver gets as good as it can be.
