Over the years, Dutch dairy cows have been pressed to increase their production – to the point where it has often become detrimental to the cow’s wellbeing. In a production chain focussed on producing as much milk as possible for the lowest price, cows are exhausted. Animal welfare campaigners Wakker Dier are raising awareness for this issue, arguing for a better treatment of cows and a fair milk price for farmers to enable this.
